The Dallas Amputee Network (DAN) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that takes pride in supporting, mentoring, and guiding amputees, their families, and caregivers in the North Texas area.
Our Mission
D.A.N.’s members, supporters and the community work tirelessly to provide support, inspiration and enlightenment to fellow amputees and their caregivers to promote independence and well-being so that they may thrive through an active, empowered lifestyle.
Our Goals
We work to present programs and distribute information to our members and the amputee community about new research, materials, and techniques in prosthetics. We promote physical fitness, social interaction, and giving back to the community to help provide a healthier lifestyle for everyone.
Our Founder
Sept. 15, 1941 – July 24, 2017
Ellen had a vision about building a thriving and vibrant organization supporting all amputees, their family members, and their caregivers. The Dallas Amputee Network (DAN) is her vision fulfilled.
Ellen lost her leg in a motorcycle accident in 2001. She decided to turn that tragedy into an opportunity to help other amputees and founded DAN in 2002 with only 10 members. Today, DAN is a successful amputee support organization that faithfully serves the amputee community in DFW.
Her tireless energy made us all better people, and we dedicate ourselves to continuing her vision for the organization.
We love you and miss you, Ellen.
