The Dallas Amputee Network

Registration for the Dallas Amputee Network blog is really pretty simple.

• Click here to open the registration page in a new window. Click the small picture below to see a full size sample of the registration page:
  

  

  1. Enter a username of your choosing. It can be your real name, a nickname, one word or more, uppercase, lower case or mixed case; just choose something that will identify you to the other members and something you can remember because you’ll have to enter this username every time you login.
  2. Enter your real email address. It is important that you enter it completely and correctly, because the password will be emailed back to this address. If you enter it incorrectly, you’ll never receive your password!
  3. Click the Register button. The yellow “information box” will change to indicate that registration is complete.
  4. You can close the Registration window now.

• Open your email program and check for new mail; it may take a couple of minutes before it arrives, so be patient. Click the small picture below to see a full size sample of the email:
  

  

  1. WordPress is the name of the software we’re using, it is OK to open a message from WordPress with the subject [The Dallas Amputee Network] Your username and password.
  2. The username should be exactly as you entered it.
  3. The password will probably be very strange looking and difficult to remember, <laugh> but you can change it after you login. For now, either write it down or copy it to your computer’s memory using the computer’s cut-and-paste functions.
  4. Click on the link in the third line of the message. If your email program doesn’t allow you to link to websites, click here for the login page.

• On the login page, enter your userid and the new password, then click the Log In button. Click the small picture below to see a full size sample of the login page:
  

  

• After you log in, you’ll see WordPress “dashboard”, where you can update information about yourself. Since the profile page is fairly long, I’ve broken it up into two pieces.
  1. Enter your First Name and Last Name on the top half of the profile page. You can also enter a Nickname if you’d like. Click the small picture below to see the top half of the profile page:
     

     

  2. Scroll down to see the bottom half of the Profile page. At the very bottom you can change your password to something more easily remembered. The Password Strength is only there for your information; the system will allow you to save a weak password, if that’s what you want. Just don’t make it too easy!   3. Click on the Update botton to save changes to your Profile.
  4. Scroll back to the top and click on Visit Site to go to the main blog page. You can read all the posts on this page, or you can click on Dallas Amputee Network Homepage (on the right hand side) to return to our “real” homepage.

That’s all it takes to register for the Dallas Amputee Network blog site. Once registered, you can leave Replies / Comments on any of the post, to provide feedback to the directors!
